Class: The purpose of this class is to give you an understating about the events in the past that have shaped the modern world today. We will be investigating and learning about how each continent developed through history and the major historical events that influenced their developmental. We will also be examining world events that linked countries and continents together or against each other. By the end of the class you will have a solid foundation of the major events that are responsible for causing the world to be the way it is today.
Assignments and Grades: Throughout the year you will be given a number of in-class, homework, debates, projects, readings, study guides, quizzes, tests, term papers, and final exams. Your grade will be based on the total number of points you have at the end of the Semester (not quarters). After every unit we have there will be a test consisting of multiple choice, true false, short answer, and an essay section. During the unit you may have up to two quizzes, but the dates will be announced. There will never be a pop quiz. During the course of the year you will be required to write two term paper, one each semester. The topics can be on anything we have covered or any personal interests in. The only requirement is that one paper be written on a topic before 1776 and one after 1776. You will be allowed to select your topic, but it must be approved by me. The grading scale below will be followed on every assignment throughout the year.
A= 93%+ A-=92-90% B+= 89-87% B= 86-83% B-= 82-80% C+=79-77% C= 76-73% C-=72-70% D+= 69-67% D= 66-63% D-= 62-60% E=59% and below
